Embraer has reported a net loss of US$292 million for the three months to March 31, a deterioration from a net loss of US$42.5 million in the prior corresponding period. Read More » The Brazil-headquartered company said in a slide presentation accompanying the quarterly results the main impact of the coronavirus had been in commercial aviation, with the business jets and defence sectors "resilient”. It said key markets in the U. S. and Europe were "already resuming operations” and specialists expected regional routes to lead the aviation recovery.

Aircraft leasing company, SMBC Aviation Capital, which has Japan's Sumitomo Corporation and Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group as major shareholders, said this week it had deferred the delivery of 68 737 MAXs until 2025-2027. The new schedule was included in SMBC's financial results for the 12 months to March 31, 2020, which showed profit before tax rose 6%, to US$364.5 million.

Royal Brunei Airlines (RBA) said this week it would operate one return flight between Bandar Seri Begawan and London Heathrow on June 19-20, with tickets available for purchase "in limited numbers to all guests who meet the strict criteria for travel into Brunei, UK or their final destination". The airline, which had nonstop flights to five destinations (Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Melbourne and Singapore), said it planned to release its July and August schedule next week.

France’s civil aviation investigation authority, Bureau d'Enquêtes et d'Analyses pour la Sécurité de l'Aviation Civile, said on Twitter this week it had successfully downloaded the data from the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder of a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) A320, AP-BLD, which crashed after a missed approach near Jinnah International Airport in Karachi on May 22 on a flight from Lahore.
