Overview

It has been a good week for Asia-Pacific aviation as Juneyao Airlines is reportedly joining Star Alliance as a connecting partner, and South Korea’s Eastar Jet confirmed its membership in the U-FLY Alliance. In Kuala Lumpur, MAB appointed Arved von zur Muehlen as its new CCO and the AirAsia Group is looking to sell its leasing arm, Asia Aviation Capital, for up to $1 billion. In Jakarta, Garuda Indonesia posted a first half loss as the flag carrier moved into the new Terminal 3 at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. In Taiwan, shockwaves rippled across the LCC segment as V Air announced its suspension, also casting doubt over Tigerair Taiwan’s future.
