STARLUX Airlines will start its third service to Japan in February with the promise of more to come as the delivery of new aircraft allows the Taiwanese carrier to expand its network. Read More » Taipei-Fukuoka will commence as a weekly service on February 17 with plans to expand it to twice a week in March and then increase frequency as demand warrants. The new route joins existing services from Taipei to Osaka and Tokyo and will be flying as Japan is easing entry restrictions for some business travellers and students. “Japan has long been the most popular destination with travelers in Taiwan,’’ the airline said. “Despite the pandemic, STARLUX launched its Tokyo and Osaka routes last year to provide deluxe service to business travelers and their families. With two more A321neos being delivered at the end of this year and the expectation of the gradual recovery of overseas traveling in 2022, STARLUX intends to open more routes between Taipei and Japan, in addition to Fukuoka, next year.” STARLUX is planning to spread its wings in 2022 as new wide-body aircraft begin arriving at the carrier in the first half of the year. It has eight A330-900s and 18 A350 XWBs in the pipeline with plans for further Asian and long-haul growth. “With the wide-body aircraft in place, the network and total capacity of STARLUX will steadily grow, serving passengers in most major cities in Asia as the airline gradually develops its trans-oceanic routes to North America, planned for the end of next year,’’ it said.
