Australia's airlines flew 1.62 million passengers on domestic scheduled flights in February, down 1.8% from 1.65 million in January, figures from the country's Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics (BITRE) showed. Read More » The February figure was also 62.9% below the 4.37 million domestic passengers in February 2020. Capacity, or available seat kilometres (ASK), fell 55.3% year-on-year for the month and the passenger load factor dropped 16.6 percentage points to 58.9%, from 75.5% in the same month in 2020. The busiest route by passenger numbers in February was Brisbane-Sydney, with 138,100 passengers, followed by Melbourne-Sydney (132,100) and Gold Coast-Sydney (68,100).
