GE Aviation announced its succession plan this week with news that president and CEO, David Joyce, will retire on September 1, and be succeeded by former Embraer Commercial Aviation president and CEO, John Slattery. Read More » Joyce will leave the board on December 31 and then serve as a strategic advisor to GE Aviation in 2021, the company said.

Following the news of Slattery’s departure to the GE group, Embraer has promoted Arjan Meijer to president and CEO of its Commercial Aviation business. Meijer has been chief commercial officer of Embraer Commercial Aviation since January 2017, a role he took on after 15 years at the KLM airline group. His appointment is immediate.

Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation has appointed senior vice president, Yasuhiko Kawaguchi, as executive chief engineer and head of its engineering division. The leadership reshuffle has eliminated the position of chief development officer, held by Alex Bellamy. The manufacturer said the "new, harsh business environment necessitated the development of a new operating plan for this fiscal year that included resizing its organization" to ensure the company "may endure and emerge" from the coronavirus crisis.
