CODE SHARES: China Eastern Airlines has expanded its code share with Delta Air Lines to include Atlanta to Boston, Cincinnati, Minneapolis/St Paul and Salt Lake City and from Detroit and Seattle to the same destinations. Read More »

LEASING: Global aircraft leasing and financing company, Novus Aviation Capital, and LCC, Vietjet, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the financing and leasing of 10 single aisle aircraft from Vietjet’s order book. Valued at approximately $1.3 billion at list prices, the MoU is a mix of operating and finance leases that will become effective over the next 18 months.

ROUTES: Air China will add direct three a week A350 Beijing-Nice direct flights from August 2, its second French destination after Paris. Asiana Airlines will go double daily Seoul Incheon to New York on November 24. Garuda Indonesia LCC subsidiary, Citilink, has announced plans to open routes to Frankfurt and Jeddah by year end and possibly Australia and Vietnam with A330-900neo long-haul aircraft. Loong Airlines commenced twice a week A320 flights between Enshi and Macau. Qantas Airways has applied to operate B787-9s between Sydney and Auckland from December 1. Spicejet will introduce Delhi to Dhaka and Jeddah from July 31 and Mumbai to Dhaka, Hong Kong and Riyadh on July 25, July 31 and August15, respectively. Thai Lion Air will launch daily services from Bangkok to Manila and Siem Reap on October 1. Korean Air will launch Incheon-Seoul to Hangzhou, Nanjing and Zhangjiajie and from Incheon to Clark in the Philippines in coming months. It also will suspend Incheon-Nadi from October 1 and increase frequency from Seoul to Beijing and Delhi to 18 and daily flights a week, respectively. Hainan Airlines has added Haikou-Mandalay twice a week from June 27 and will open Chengdu-Chicago O’Hare on September 16, initially twice a week. Next week Beijing Capital Airlines will open Xi’An-Vladivostok with a three times a week A320 routing.
