Orient Aviation’s Week in the Asia-Pacific

It has been a quick-paced week in Asia-Pacific commercial aviation. On Wednesday, China Eastern Airlines accepted its maiden A350-900 in Toulouse. Earlier this week, Airbus delivered the first A330-900neo to launch operator TAP Air Portugal, ahead of deliveries to Asia-Pacific carriers AirAsia X and Garuda Indonesia next year.
Following its exit from SkyTeam, China Southern Airlines in Guangzhou this week announced the expansion of its partnership with American Airlines. Also in China, HNA Group has decreased its shareholding in LCC Urumqi Airlines from 70% to 30%. Meanwhile, reports have suggested that India’s Jet Airways has turned to Etihad Airways for extra money, which could increase the UAE carrier’s equity in Jet from 24% to 49%.
