Orient Aviation’s Week in the Asia-Pacific

It’s been an exciting week for Vietnam’s Bamboo Airways. The new kid on the block has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Boeing for 20 B787-9s for delivery to the Hanoi-headquartered airline from 2020. The Boeing order followed an order for 24 A321neo, placed with Airbus in March.
Also in the news, India’s Jet Airways has signed another B737 MAX order that raised its order tally for the latest B737 variant to 225 aircraft, Finnair is looking at the A321LR for long-and-thin flights to Chinese second and third tier cities, Singapore Airlines Group is transferring B737s from SilkAir to Scoot and Tianjin Airlines is opening the first intercontinental route from Hohhot.
At the manufacturers, Airbus and THAI have confirmed their MRO venture in U-Tapao, Boeing has unveiled a new hypersonic airliner concept and China’s COMAC has resumed C919 test flights.
