International Air Transport Association plans digital travel pass launch in March

International Air Transport Association (IATA) Asia-Pacific regional director for airports and external relations, Vinoop Goel, told reporters during an online briefing today the airline lobby group's digital travel pass was on track to be launched next month. Read More » "Our plan is to go live in March. We expect to have a fully working functional system in the next few weeks," Goel said.

SIA Group’s Singapore Airlines was among the first airlines in the world to trial the digital travel pass. Other airlines participating in trials have included Copa Airlines, Emirates Airline, Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways. Air New Zealand said yesterday it would conduct a three-week test of the technology in April. The digital document offers verification and validation of COVID-19 test results and vaccinations. "We have had very good responses from airlines globally," Goel said. "We hope to see a widespread rollout when this product becomes official."
